9th Conference on Econometric Models of Climate Change (EMCC)

The 9th Conference on Econometric Models of Climate Change (EMCC) will take place at the Hotel Grand Pacific in Victoria, hosted by the University of Victoria (UVic) on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, on August 27th – 28th 2025.

The conference brings together economists, econometricians, climate scientists, statisticians, and policy researchers to improve our understanding of climate change, its impacts, and effective policy solutions. The EMCC conference series was established in 2016 and has been supported by themed issues of the Journal of Econometrics, Energy Economics, and Advances in Econometrics. Previous iterations of the conference are linked here.

The 9th EMCC conference is generously supported by the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions, a Connections grant from the Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of Canada, as well as the UVic Department of Economics, and Faculty of Social Science.

Registration

Please register for the conference by June 20, 2025: https://forms.gle/YMem4vvDBbXTH8Ns6. There is no conference registration fee thanks to generous financial support from the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions, the Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Canada, and the University of Victoria.

We welcome colleagues who aren’t presenting to join us, however, because capacity is limited, priority will be given to presenters and co-authors on accepted papers. Non-presenter registrations will remain open on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached.

Call For Papers – Now Closed.

The call for papers is now closed.

We seek paper submissions that employ new econometric and statistical methods to understand socio-economic or environmental climate impacts, climate processes, climate policy, or climate finance. Papers that present challenges in climate science where statistical methods provide analytical insights, are especially welcome. We also encourage submitters to the IJF special issue on forecasting to present their papers.

UVic is located in Victoria on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, on the traditional territory of the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Esquimalt) Peoples.
